FAQ
Website Audit FAQ
Common questions about our conversion audit service.
For small businesses and founders, the best website audit service depends on what you need. Free tools like HubSpot Website Grader check page speed and basic SEO but miss the conversion leaks that actually cost you customers: positioning gaps, weak CTAs, and missing trust signals. TeardownHQ ($49 to $249) analyzes positioning, messaging, copy quality, conversion paths, and trust signals with a structured scoring system and 24-hour delivery. CRO agencies ($2,000 to $10,000+) provide full-funnel conversion optimization over weeks or months. For most businesses that need to know why their website is not converting, a professional audit like TeardownHQ provides the best balance of depth, speed, and price.
Most reports are delivered in under 12 hours, though we guarantee delivery within 24 hours of submitting your site details. Once your teardown is complete, you will receive an email with a link to view your interactive report online. A PDF backup is also attached. Turnaround time depends on order volume, but we consistently beat the 24-hour window. If you need a faster turnaround for a specific reason, reach out to support@teardownhq.com before placing your order and we will do our best to accommodate.
The intake form asks for five things: your website URL, a short description of what you sell, who your target customer is, your primary conversion goal (signups, purchases, demo requests, etc.), and optionally up to three competitor URLs for comparison analysis. The entire form takes about 2 minutes to complete. You do not need to prepare any documents, grant access to any tools, or schedule a call. The more detail you provide about your target customer and what you sell, the more specific and useful your teardown will be.
Every report delivers a minimum of 5 specific, actionable findings. Our methodology is thorough and our standards are high, so this has never been an issue. The vast majority of sites have significant room for improvement. In the unlikely event your report falls short, your purchase is fully protected. Email support@teardownhq.com and we handle it within 48 hours.
Yes. After receiving your report, you can upgrade to a higher tier at a discounted rate. Core buyers can upgrade to Pro for $79 (saving $21 compared to buying Pro outright), and Pro buyers can upgrade to Plus for $129 (saving $21 compared to buying Plus outright). You will receive an upgrade link with your report delivery email. When you upgrade, we expand your existing report with the additional analysis sections from the higher tier. There is no need to resubmit your site details or wait another full cycle. Upgrades are typically delivered within 12 hours.
Got your answer?
See pricing and get startedNo. We analyze your site exactly the way your visitors experience it, from the outside. Our process involves scraping your public-facing pages, capturing full-page screenshots on both desktop and mobile viewports, running Google Lighthouse audits for performance and SEO scores, extracting all visible copy including headings, CTAs, meta tags, and body text, and analyzing your visual hierarchy and layout structure. We do not need admin access, Google Analytics credentials, CMS logins, or any backend access. Everything we evaluate is based on what a first-time visitor sees when they land on your page.
Core ($49) gives you the TeardownHQ Score (a breakdown across six categories), plus positioning and copy analysis, above-the-fold audit, 5-second blur test, copy health scorecard, Google search preview, findings ranked by impact and effort estimates, and a prioritized top 3 fixes box. It is a comprehensive health check that tells you where you stand and what to fix first. Pro ($149) unlocks the full conversion audit. You get everything in Core, plus conversion path and CTA dissection, trust and objection handling review, mobile conversion audit, competitor comparison with up to three competitors, inline copy rewrites on every finding, three concrete rewrite directions, multi-page site crawl (up to 5 key internal pages), site structure analysis, and page flow analysis. Pro is our most popular tier. Plus ($249) adds production-ready deliverables on top of the full Pro analysis: two ready-to-use hero section copy variants, CTA rewrites for every button on the page, a technical SEO audit, a full sitemap audit, revenue impact modeling (when you provide traffic data), and a day-by-day prioritized action plan for the next seven days.
The teardown process combines automated data gathering with AI-powered positioning analysis. First, our tools capture full-page screenshots on desktop and mobile viewports, extract all visible copy from your page, map your heading hierarchy and CTA placement, pull meta tags and Open Graph data, run Google Lighthouse audits for performance and SEO scores, and scrape competitor sites if provided. For Pro and Plus tiers, the system also crawls up to 5 key internal pages (about, pricing, services, contact) to assess site structure and messaging consistency. Then, the AI analysis layer evaluates your site against a structured methodology, assessing positioning clarity, headline effectiveness, value proposition strength, CTA architecture, trust signals, and copy quality. Each finding receives an impact score (0-100) and an effort tag (quick win, moderate, or strategic). The result is a detailed report with severity-rated findings (critical, warning, info), specific recommendations with example rewrites, conversion lift citations from named research sources, and a prioritized action plan. This is not a generic template. Every report is built from your actual site data and tailored to your business context.
Yes. You can submit any public URL for analysis. While most customers submit their homepage or primary landing page, you can also submit product pages, pricing pages, signup pages, or any other publicly accessible page. Simply enter the specific URL you want analyzed in the intake form. The teardown will focus entirely on that page. If you are running paid traffic to a specific landing page, that is often the best page to submit since it has the most direct impact on your ad spend and conversion rate.
The teardown is a one-time deliverable, not a subscription or retainer. You pay once, receive your report, and implement the changes on your own timeline. However, many customers come back for follow-up teardowns after making changes to measure improvement. If you are interested in ongoing optimization support, custom consulting, or a recurring teardown schedule, reply to your delivery email and we can discuss options. We are always happy to help you figure out the right next step after your initial teardown.
Yes. We take privacy seriously. Your site data, intake information, and report contents are never shared with anyone outside of TeardownHQ. Your report is delivered only to the email address you provide during checkout. We do not use your site data for marketing, case studies, or any public-facing content without explicit written permission. We do not share your information with third parties. You can review our full privacy policy at teardownhq.com/privacy for complete details on how we handle and protect your data.
Each teardown is produced through a combination of automated data gathering tools and AI-powered analysis. The automated layer handles objective measurements: screenshots across devices, performance scores, copy extraction, heading hierarchy mapping, and competitor scraping. The AI analysis layer applies a structured conversion methodology built from conversion optimization research and hundreds of site evaluations. It scores your site across 22 subcategories, quotes your actual page copy in every finding, cross-references your intake data (target customer, pricing, differentiator), and produces severity-rated recommendations with specific rewrites. This is not a generic prompt run against your URL. It is a structured, methodology-driven process that consistently delivers the depth and specificity of a senior consultant engagement.
No. Free AI audit tools paste your URL into a generic prompt and return boilerplate advice like "improve your headline" and "add social proof." Our process is fundamentally different. Before the AI analysis even begins, automated tools gather your complete page data: full copy extraction, heading hierarchy, CTA inventory, meta tags, Lighthouse scores, screenshots across viewports, and competitor site data. The AI analysis engine then processes all of this through a structured 22-subcategory methodology, cross-referencing your actual page content against the business context you provided in your intake form (target customer, offer, pricing, differentiator, traffic source). Every finding in your report quotes text from your page. Every recommendation includes a specific rewrite. If a finding could apply to any website on the internet, it does not belong in your report. Browse the sample report at teardownhq.com/sample to judge the specificity for yourself.
The report is a detailed interactive document you view in your browser. It opens with an executive summary featuring your TeardownHQ Score (a breakdown across six categories), a methodology brief explaining the scoring system, and an "If You Only Fix 3 Things" box highlighting your highest-impact conversion leaks. The body of the report contains positioned findings, each tagged with a severity rating (critical, warning, or info), an impact score (0-100), an effort estimate (quick win, moderate, or strategic), and conversion lift citations from named research sources where applicable. Every finding includes a specific recommendation with inline copy rewrites showing exactly what to change. Findings are deduplicated so the same issue never appears twice. Depending on your tier, the report also includes sections for competitor comparison, mobile audit, CTA analysis, trust signal evaluation, search appearance preview, page flow diagram (current vs recommended visitor journey), site structure analysis, rewrite directions, hero section variants, and a prioritized action plan. Reports typically run 15 to 30 pages depending on the tier and the complexity of your site.
You can browse a complete sample report at /sample.CRO agencies typically charge $2,000 to $10,000+ per engagement, require weeks of back-and-forth, and involve multiple calls and meetings before you see any deliverables. Their scope usually covers the full conversion funnel including forms, checkout flows, onboarding sequences, and analytics setup. TeardownHQ is different in scope and structure. We focus specifically on positioning and messaging, the layer between someone landing on your page and understanding what you do, why it matters, and why they should act. Fixed scope, fixed price, 24-hour delivery, no calls needed. You get a detailed report and clear recommendations without the overhead of an agency engagement.
Any business with a website that needs to convert visitors. Our analysis methodology applies to SaaS companies, ecommerce stores, service businesses, agencies, consultants, coaches, local businesses, nonprofits, and more. The core principles of clear positioning, effective messaging, strong CTAs, and trust architecture are universal. Whether you are selling software subscriptions, physical products, professional services, or trying to generate leads, the teardown evaluates how well your page communicates what you sell, who you sell it to, and why someone should choose you. We have analyzed sites across dozens of industries and the methodology consistently surfaces actionable improvements.
We do not currently offer a standard bulk pricing plan. However, if you need multiple teardowns for different pages or domains, or if your team wants to run teardowns across a portfolio of sites, email support@teardownhq.com and we can put together a custom arrangement. We are happy to work with agencies, portfolios, and teams that need volume pricing for multiple teardown reports.
